THE PROCESS
When a teenager reaches the age of 15 they can begin to take Driver’s Education. However, they can not get their permit until they are 15 ½. When teenagers ages (15 ½ - 17 ½) want to get their permit the first step is to complete Driver’s Education. Once they have completed Driver’s Education and have received their completion certificate (Form OL 237) the student can then go to the DMV and take the written test. When the student goes to the DMV they will have to take the following:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
DMV application should be filled out online before going to the dmv to make the process faster.
Go to http://edlapp.dmv.ca.gov/ to fill it out. If under 18 parents can sign the application electronically.
Original Birth Certificate (A valid unexpired California
I.D. or U.S. Passport can replace the Birth Certificate)

Driver's Education Completion Certificate OL 237
2 proof of residency documents. If under 18 parents
named in birth certificate or legal guardians can show
their documents. Go to:
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/dl/residency_requirement
to see what documents are accepted.
$45 Application Fee
Once the student passes the test at the DMV they will receive their permit. Unless the student is already 17 ½ their permit is not valid until they take their first behind-the-wheel lesson with a certified driving school. Students must complete 6hrs of behind-the-wheel training with a driving school and they must also hold on to their permits for 6 months before they can go back to the DMV to take their driving test and receive their provisional license.
Here at New Prudential Driving School we have all the courses that the students need to get their permits and we make the process easy and AFFORDABLE. EVERYONE CAN AFFORD OUR PRICES. WE CARE ABOUT OUR CUSTOMERS AND OUR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED. WE ALSO HOLD DRIVER’S TRAINING AT A LOW COST EVEN IF THE STUDENT HAS NOT COMPLETED DRIVER’S EDUCATION THROUGH OUR SCHOOL.
DRIVER'S EDUCATION
Here at New Prudential Driving School we have a very professional and complete in-class Driver’s Education course. In our class students read the California DMV handbook, complete test, watch videos, and get live lectures from an instructor. We have been teaching for over 30 years, as a result our passing rates are over 98% on the 1st attempt on the written test. Here at our school we feel that learning about the rules of the road and the importance being safe behind the wheel are better learned in a classroom environment. However, we know that a lot of students are busy and fitting a classroom session is just nearly impossible. As a result we are also offering Driver’s Ed Online.
We believe that the main difference between Driver’s Ed online and in-class is the live lectures. In our lectures we go over all of the rules of the road and defensive driving techniques and if a student does not understand something we are able to explain it to them in detail. At our school we make sure that before we give the students the certificate saying that they have completed the course that they actually understand the material, and that they are actually going to pass the test when they go to the DMV. We care about our work and we want our students to pass, and we also want them to become safe and reliable drivers.
